Today was warm-ish, so when Kidlet #3 and I went to pick up Kidlet #1 from school, we got to sit around outside while big sister played on the playground.
There was a quite intense football game going on to my left, with a 2nd-grade-ish age girl clearly dominating the 4 boys she was playing with. I smiled at her as she was on the bottom of a dogpile, on top of the football, and later she decided to sit on the bench next to me. I said "You're kicking their butts, aren't you?" and she pointed and said "Well it's because he's a first grader" and then ran back into the game.
Of course, the inherent superiority that comes with being a second grader.
The first grade boy that she had pointed out ran by, saying "I'm too young to die!" and then immediately picked up his speed for a tackle.
Five boys, ranging in heights and ages it seems, were playing some fighting game, who knows. A very tow-headed, very small, and very indignant little girl stomped into the middle of them and screamed "I just wish everyone would get bloody noses!"
Kidlet #1 ran up to me with her friend, and kindly introduced me to said friend. I told her that her baby brother was getting sleepy, and I was getting cold, so she had five more minutes. She said "Ok five more minutes, that's all right" and then turned to her friend and said, in the exact same tone of voice, "Can we go back to the boat? I'm running out of air." and they ran away towards the monkey bars.
